The Laurie D. Reeder Grant for Performing Arts

Actress and Director Megan Boone was raised in The Villages and graduated from Belleview High School in 2001. Boone established the “Megan Boone Grants for the Performing Arts”, with Marion Cultural Alliance, in honor of Laurie D. Reeder, an art educator who made a difference in Boone’s life. Each year, Boone will award $4,000 for a Theatre Educator.

PROPOSAL INFORMATION

The spirit of this grant is to provide support for Marion County 6th-12th grade Theatre educators in need of theater facility improvements, costumes, props, play texts, and/or a budget to support travel and accommodations for economically disadvantaged students to participate in already rehearsed performances. An advantage will be given by the committee to applicants if they are working on material that addresses women’s rights or equality, LGBTQ+ rights, environmental justice, or race relations in America.
List at least three goals you have for this project. Explain why you think engaging in this particular project is an important experience for your students.
How will this grant help you meet specific theatre arts standards? Specifically list a few of the standards that you have to teach and how this will help you better teach those standards. (Second line may be repetitive).
List the activities that you have planned for the grant. If the grant is leading to an actual performance, make sure you include a list of the steps involved in preparing the staging of that production.
