Marion Cultural Alliance (MCA), a nonprofit, 501(c)3 was established in 2001, with its inaugural effort, the Horse Fever public art project. MCA’s mission is to champion, convene, and create opportunities for artists and arts organizations.

Pam Fletcher stated that this original acrylic painting was inspired by the original black & white photograph “Woman in Thirties” by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Eudora Welty in 1932. "I was drawn to the raw emotion of the black & white photo. I could see the color pallet immediately. Grace, hope and wonder."

Submit your upcycled creations by Sunday, March 26. We have an open call for local and regional artists to create artwork from repurposed, recycled, and/or found objects and materials. Artists are encouraged to submit works that skillfully UpCycle & Re-Imagine different types of materials to create visually satisfying and thought-provoking work. This month-long exhibit embraces the sustainability mindset and comes just in time for Earth Day on April 22.

A Silver River Story DVD by Mark Emery is about our hometown, Ocala! In the film it discusses Paradise Park, a section of the Silver Springs property that was for African-American visitors from 1949 to 1969. It`s a fantastic movie about the history of the Silver River!
