10 THINGS YOU’VE ALWAYS WANTED – BUT FELT TOO INTIMIDATED – TO READ

Back by popular demand, R.J. Jenkins, in partnership with the Marion Cultural Alliance and the Marion County Literacy Council, presents “10 Things You’ve Always Wanted – But Felt Too Intimidated – To Read” – a series of spirited, conversational, no-reading-required talks about ten infamously challenging works of literature and philosophy.

“10 Things You’ve Always Wanted – But Felt Too Intimidated – To Read” will tackle head-on a set of works that seem almost to take pride in how difficult they are to read and understand. In the process, we will learn that big, tough texts aren’t really so big and tough after all, and that all of us are more gifted readers than we sometimes give ourselves credit for. Come to one – or some – or all!

(Note: This list makes no claim to comprehensive or exhaustive representation of difficulty. This is simply a collection of texts – and textual moments – that have touched or influenced the presenter in some significant way.)
