Folk Culture of India (Lecture-demonstration)

Presenter and facilitator: Dr. Sheni Meghani.
This event will highlight various aspects of folk-life of India, especially the western region of the subcontinent. Stories, songs, dance and art are the heartbeats of folk-life; and they are deeply embedded into folk traditions and culture of that region. While sharing information about Indian folk-life, Sheni will narrate stories and render songs explaining their relevance to the festivals, celebrations and traditions of that region. Through her stories and songs, the artist will highlight some interesting details about celebrations, fabrics, customs displayed in her paintings. This event will offer the participants a unique multi-sensory immersive experience of Indian culture through paintings, songs and stories.
