Arts Symposium: From Inspiration to Creation

March 8, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Ocala Civic Theatre and Marion Cultural Alliance invite you to join us for the arts symposium “From Inspiration to Creation: Hope and the Creative Process” on Monday, March 8 at Ocala Civic Theatre.
This free 90-minute event is an inspiring “happy hour with the arts” and a fascinating conversation with local artists and dreamers. Based on the book “Art Is the Highest Form of Hope” by Phaidon Press, the symposium will explore the power of hope, the creative process, and their potential to transform and renew individuals and communities.
Doors and concessions open at 5 p.m. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m. In addition to co-sponsors Ocala Civic Theatre and Marion Cultural Alliance, the event is also generously sponsored by The David and Lisa Midgett Foundation.
Moderated by R.J. Jenkins, president of the Marion Literacy Council, a panel of leaders from the local arts community will share their insights into the creative process and its place in Ocala’s flourishing arts scene:
• ART: Leslie Nottingham, Jordan Shapot, and Patricia Tomlinson
• DANCE: Lisa Lombardo
• FILM: Pamela Calero Wardell
• MUSIC: Bert Smith and Matt Wardell
• THEATRE: Katrina Ploof
The event is free and open to the public. Reservations are required. To reserve your spot, stop by or call the OCT box office at (352) 236-2274. Box office hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. You also may reserve your spot at www.ocalacivictheatre.com.
Masks are required at all times, and socially distanced seating will be arranged by the OCT box office.
